Luxuries, palaces and royalty. But also from legal battles, allegations of incest and possible drugs, such was the life of Kasia Gallanio. The Sheikha of Marbella was for years the princess of Qatar but after his divorce he lived on the Costa del Sol.
Gallanio was born in Krakow but moved to the United States as a child. Kasia was honored to be Polish. She actually helped the Ukrainians to protect themselves from the Russians in the invasion of the country. During her youth she attended California State University and later worked at the multinational financial company Morgan Stanley. But her life took a 180 degree turn when she met the Prince of Qatar, Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al Thani (73 years old); uncle of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
They met in Paris, when she was 29 and he was 56. The couple ended up getting married and she converted to Islam, thus becoming the third wife of the Qatari prince. Fruit of that marriage were born three daughters: Sheikha Malak, Sheikha Yasmin and Sheika Reem.
His union with the emir was the beginning of his tragedy. In 2012 Kasia decided to separate from Al Thani, in a complicated divorce for the custody of the three minor daughters they had in common.
“My two twin daughters wanted to live with me and he, as a punishment, cut off contact with them. The little girl is not allowed to talk to me and that makes me very sad. She receives many material things from her father, but it is all blackmail. It’s very sad because I miss my daughter,” said Kasia Gallanio during an interview.
The legal battle did not end there. One of the daughters of Gallanio and the prince denounced last April having been the victim of sexual assault by her father when she was 9 and 15 years old. The Paris Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation for sexual assault by the police for the protection of minors. However, the prince, who enjoys diplomatic immunity, has denied these accusations.
A complaint that Gallanio made public in various interviews. Through his networks and media, the sheikha was not afraid to publicly denounce the situation she faced.
The complaint was dismissed by a Paris court on May 19. The two oldest daughters do not have a good relationship with their father while the youngest, 15, continues to live with her father in a palace on Avenue Montaigne in Paris. According to the French newspaper Le Parisien, the minor lives isolated from the world and in a situation of school abandonment.
